A True Burning Man

Warmer Music Festival in Belgium did not disappoint.

I had always wanted to go to #BurningMan ... that is... I wanted to go to the OG version of Burning Man. With the gentrification of the event, I feel like Burning Man turned “into” the Man. 😢 But when I heard of a #MiniBurningMan event that spoke of leaving your wallets at home and really coming together to enjoy a weekend of community and an appreciation for music and art... I was like sign me up! I took my very square, golfclub-member-Husband to explore the bohemian side of Belgium in a small music festival in #Bierges. #WarmerFest did not disappoint. Just a group of maybe 50 or so of us showed up with tenting equipment (no caravans or rv’s or air mattresses...) just us sleeping in our meager sleeping bags and fold out tents at the site of castle ruins in the French-speaking part of Belgium. No one sold anything or promoted anything. The whole concept was being a community together and bartering with one another for what we needed. I remember carrying my coffee around in search of a percolator. Or how husband peeled potatoes and chopped vegetables in exchange for a seat at someone’s table for lunch. I had an unforgettable, once in a lifetime experience that still warms my heart. And I’ll never forget husband pointing out how one of the participants was a nudist that kept hugging people. 🤣 I married the opposite of myself and I think it gives us a fantastic balance. He remembers not having a toilet or shower while I remember having instant connections and true, however brief, friendships. ❤️ #MindTravel PS: The music was sick. 🤘🤘🤘

P.S. I'm in the process of updating my travel blog and am including past postcards. If I see a lot of interest on a certain topic or destination, I will beef up the postcard and turn it into a full travel article.
