Unpacking Sentimental Affects of Expat Life
Expat Life in the Netherlands: We are pioneers that long to create a #GlobalCitizenship for the little humans we have created.
yourtravelblogger Last night me and a girlfriend packed a couple of roadies and sat on the beach talking for hours as the sun set. We both moved to a foreign land to seek out an alternative lifestyle and in doing so, we’ve both noticed the dramatic changes in ourselves and the impact of exploring the unknown. #TravelingChangesYou. Period. What was once so familiar becomes unrecognizable and the newness presented to you leaves you a bit uncomfortable. You constantly tango with the past and the present in an effort to create a customized future. Designing a future that fits with your evolving perspective can be tricky and coloring outside of your country’s lines can be scary. And for those of us that have this burning desire to pave our own way in this world, stepping out of our comfort zone is a daily necessity. Sometimes I feel so alone in these feelings but then I get to share these intimate thoughts with another and realize that I’m not alone; there are others. We are pioneers that long to create a #GlobalCitizenship for the little humans we have created. So while we may not feel we fit in with our past anymore; and we definitely feel alien to our present, we persevere onward in hopes that our bravery is passed along to the next generation. There is a thrill in knowing what you’re capable of. And there is a confidence that comes with knowing you are #Limitless. But you can’t even begin to understand this unless you force yourself out of your comfort zone and discover new ideas, new lands, new perspectives… Sure, the anxiety is there but when you push past your reluctance, you’re gifted with another piece to life’s seemingly infinite puzzle. I guess what I’m trying to say is… use your effin’ passport. 🤣 🥸 ❤️ 🌎 “I'm not afraid to take a stand (it's been a ride). I guess I had to go to that place (come take my hand), To get to this one (we'll walk this road together, through the storm). Now some of you might still be in that place (whatever weather, cold or warm). If you're tryna get out (just lettin' you know that you're not alone); Just follow me (holla if you feel like you've been down the same road). I'll get you there.” #NotAfraid #ExpatLife #YourTravelBlogger

P.S. I mean seriously... don't lie, this is a helpful refresher. At least for me, it was. Ha. But then again... I still had to pause and reflect on it. Doh.
Affect vs. Effect: How to Choose the Right Word
A good rule of thumb to remember for “affect” and “effect” is:
If you’re discussing cause and effect and you’re referring to the ending result of said cause, use “effect.” You can remember that “effect” represents the end, as they both start with “e.”
If you’re talking about something changing or influencing something else, use “affect.” You can remember that “affect” represents an alteration, as they both start with “a.”
