Whimsical Create-Break during my work day
What is a whimsical create-break exactly? Well, I just made it up. #CreateBreak
What is a whimsical create-break?
Well, I'm glad you asked. As a matter of fact, I just created a fun reel to showcase exactly what I call a whimsical create-break. A break from work designated to creating --something... anything... that brings you joy-- is a create-break.

I half-expect the world to break out into song and dance.
I walk around nearly every second of the day singing a song in my head; 40% of the time… it’s a #ShowTune.
Despite being an 80's baby, I was raised on "Golden Age" musical classics. These Hollywood movies helped morph me into the sentimental fool I've become and I still expect to see the world break into song and dance at some point in my life.
Today, I decided to break up my workday and sketch a sketch and then film a film. The most important part? I hit publish (a task that becomes easier the more I do it). I am doing my best to share my authentic self in hopes of finding others to connect with. Tangent in 3, 2, 1...
I feel like I am going back in time .
Back to the 90's when we had an AOL account and signed into chatrooms, "a/s/l." Where you never thought you'd see the person but were able to have real "My So-Called Life" type of chats. Having the opportunity to connect with people outside of your town, it was just all so, well... significant. At least to me. You too?
Sorry about that. Actually, I'm not. I go off on tangents. I will try and keep them to a minimum and right aligned, should you care to skip. I see tangents as sharing but Husband just says I talk too much.
hitting the publish button.
Where was I... oh yeah. I be searching.
Listen, when you're an independent artist, you have to wear many hats. We can't always be in front of the easel. In order to share these paintings and form these bonds I am looking to create, I have to find you first.
I'm no fool. You're not actively looking for me. How can you actively look for something or someone that you didn't know existed? This is me existing. After building a whole infrastructure to support my global search, this is me publicly declaring, "I exist."
When I hit the publish button I am firing off my proverbial flare guns into the sky hoping that you see me so I can see you.
As I pull the levers on the backend of my website and get lost in my geek data, I decided to take a #CreateBreak. We take pee; smoke; snack; walk-breaks from work, why not a break to create something.
I miss my paintbrush. But as I build an evergreen, organic, authentic art experience… the clocks on the hand move swiftly by and tasks like marketing and design take priority— just for now.
Wearing of all these hats is exhausting but I know what needs to be done. So I do it.
Besides, who says you can’t have a little whimsical fun as you work.
5-Minute Commitment
If you're interested, I would highly recommend hijacking my inspiration and taking a quick break --maybe it'll even turn into a create-break!
This 5-minute video clip, “Gotta Dance,” featuring Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse, is from the musical film, “Singin' in the Rain (1952)”. When I was a young girl, I used to play make-believe and act out the character of the woman in the green dress (Charisse).
#ArtConcept: I really must paint her character. How enchanting is she. If I could capture her essence as I see her onto the canvas... she'd be something awfully special to admire.
Let me know if this was a better use of your time than mindlessly clicking on an algorithm's suggested video. Hell, maybe you felt no direct inspiration but it reminded you of another moment in time.
All of the above is my attempt at starting a conversation with you. You've seen the inspiration that gives me peace of mind. What inspires you?
Shoot me a message and become a pen pal. Oh, I almost forget... a/s/l?

P.S.S. Do you ever stop to wonder how exactly your newsfeed is impacted by what you search? When approached with a discussion of online privacy laws, you've said, "I'm good. I have nothing to hide." You may not know, but the days we're living in are chess moves that lead to a checkmate on humanity ... if gone undetected.
